Strathclyde Police Primary Inspection 2004 Strathclyde Police Federation welcomes the HMIC for Scotland
report "Strathclyde Police Primary Inspection 2004". We also look forward to recommendation 3, which suggests
that "the force enter into early dialogue with staff
associations and develops to amend or replace the existing
shift system" For too long now the rumours surrounding impending changes
to the current shift systems, have been allowed to spread
without foundation. The Federation will fully co-operate in any consultation
with the Force. Recommendation 4 is also welcomed, the
working time regulations have been in place since 1998 and
we look forward to the Force developing a means whereby
officers health and safety are protected under the terms of
the WTR and the force take proper cognisant of their
welfare, particularly in respect of having to attend court
after completing a tour of night shift.
